Mindy Nicholson, LCAC, LCMFT

Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist

Mindy Nicholson is a KS state-licensed clinical marriage and family therapist as well as a clinical addiction counselor. Mindy opened SSBC in the fall of 2009 and serves clients in the Salina location. Mindy specializes in brain based assessment and treatment of trauma, dual diagnosis, AD/HD, family/couple and relational issues. She is trained in a theraputic technique called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and other mood disorders. She is currently working on her EMDR national certification through EMDRIA. In addition to seeing individuals, couples, same sex couples and families, Mindy facilitates women and men trauma group as well as a homework club for children struggling with AD/HD and educational struggles within the community. Recognizing the importance of her community, Mindy serves on a number of civic boards, volunteers and promotes the awareness of mental health within the community by providing workshops, presentations and consulting services. In her free time, Mindy enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, playing guitar, singing and helping her husband out on their farm.
Leasha J. Strang, LSCSW

Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker
Leasha Strang is a licensed specialist clinical social worker. She graduated from Newman College in Wichita, Kansas with her Master of Social Work degree in 2011. Leasha's degree prepared her to provide mental health services focused in direct family-centered care. She has gained interest in working with traumatized children and participated in a localized training for clinicans applying mental health services to children ages 5 and younger. As a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and a former police officer, Leasha is sensitive to the issues relating to first responders, military deployment and the effects those circumstances have on individuals and their families. Prior to establishing her private practice with Sandstone Bridge Center, she worked at CKMHC in Salina and provided outpatient care for three years. Leasha works with individuals, couples and families. In addition, she also provides a group for women struggling with borderline personality disorder. In her free time, Leasha enjoys training for marathons, spending time with her family and gardening.
Ashlea M Nicholson, LAC, LMFT

Director of Substance Abuse Services
Ashlea is a Kansas state licensed marriage and family therapist as well as an addictions counselor. Ashlea specializes in treatment of dual diagnosis, trauma, post-incarceration reintegration, domestic violence and childhood disorders. She is the director of SSBC's substance abuse treatment program, Stone Sober. Ashlea works with individuals, couples, families and same sex relationships. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing guitar, piano and singing.
Chanel Barlow, LPC

Chanel Barlow is a licensed professional counselor specializing in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders. Originally from Utah, she moved to Kansas this year when her spouse accepted a job as a city planner. Prior to coming to Kansas, Chanel received her M.Ed. in clinical mental health counseling and worked for two years in private practice, gaining valuable experience with a diverse range of clientele. She views therapy as an individual healing journey and tailors established theories and evidence-based interventions to fit each of her clients’ unique personalities, situations, and values. Chanel works with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, gender identities, and sexual orientations. When she’s not seeing clients, Chanel spends part of her time teaching psychology at Hutchinson Community College in McPherson. The rest of her time is generally spent enjoying a good spoonful of peanut butter, reading, and/or making up secret handshakes with her husband.
Rachel Hemken, Student Counselor
Bachelors of Science in Psychology
Rachel received her BS in Psychology through Fort Hays State University and is currently attending as a grauate student focused on completing her degree in community counseling. After growing up in a small town and being the middle of 11 siblings, Rachel found a strong desire to help people within her community. She gained an associate degree in science and experience working as a paralegal professional. Currently she works for two legal firms in Great Bend. Rachel is interested in brain based therapy approaches and has a strong interest in kinesiology. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, walking, riding her bicycle, listening to live music and gardening when she has time away from work and her schooling.
